Ciel: The Last Autumn Story (씨엘) is a fantasy Korean manhwa written by Rhim Ju-yeon. It began serialization in 2005 in Daiwon C.I. Issue manhwam agazine. The first bound volume was released in December 2005 in South Korea; as of 2010, fourteen volumes have been released. It follows a young girl named Yvien Magnolia as she escapes her hometown and enrolls in the prestigious Lowood Institution for Witches and Wizards. The manhwa has been licensed for release in German by Tokyopop under the title Ciel - Der letzte Herbst.[1] Tokyopop licensed the manhwa to be released in English however it became postponed in 2008 along with many other Tokyopop releases.[2]

Plot

A bright young girl named Yvien Magnolia escapes her hometown and enrolls in the prestigious Lowood Institution for Witches and Wizards. Despite her beauty and warmth, she is struggling emotionally. Will she be able to find happiness?

Characters

Yvienne Magnolia

Yvienne is a beautiful girl from a small village who was forced to escape to a magical academy after the lord of the manor tried to marry her. Yvienne met January Lightsphere in the train to Newton and Lariatte at the academy and they became close. Throughout the story, she is trying to find ambition and happiness. Her love interest is Krohiten, her teacher as well as her father's. Her element of field is the sky; time travel.

Lariatte KingDiamond

Descendant of a family which is proficient in martial arts. Becomes Yvienne's familiar as she saves her from life-threatening situation. Her element of field is the water; dimension travel.

January Lightsphere

A gentleman from the Lightsphere family; a family with a dark history and even darker secrets. He meets Yvienne in the train to Newton. His magic is unknown as he repeatedly refused to take magic lessons.

Daughter

A fellow ex-student at who lives at Lowood as Krohiten's aide and January's roommate and best friend. He lived at Lowood since he is a toddler.

Krohiten

A professor at the academy. He has a laziness disease which forces Daughter to be his aide. His late wife is Carola Everett, Marion Everett's daughter back in 300 years ago. He also is the Heaven's Arc Dragon.
